Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic Floor Therapy compares the physical and energetic healing treatment techniques of the pelvis, created by Tami Kent, MSPT. It involves internal bodywork of the pelvic bowl. Just as other muscles in our body can tighten and become imbalanced, so can the pelvic muscles. As our pelvis heals and gains strength, many health benefits follow, such as control of the bladder, more interest in sex, decreased pelvic pain, and an overall feeling of wellbeing. The internal exam of Holistic Pelvic Care ™ restores physical, emotional, and energetic balance by increasing the blood flow to the pelvic area and decreasing the pelvic congestion that can cause painful PMS, ovarian cysts, and infertility. Any woman who is looking to reconnect with her female energy can benefit from Holistic Pelvic Care, however, it can be especially helpful for the following situations:

“Kristina was warm and professional, different from other doctors I’ve had with 15 minutes appointments.”

What can you expect at your appointment?

The first session is generally about an hour long. We will discuss your history and treatment goals, answer your questions, and review female anatomy. We will then move on to internal bodywork. Internal work involves the provider inserting a lubricated, gloved digit into the vagina and assessing the musculature and connective tissue. By combining gentle fascial and trigger point release with breathing techniques, the pelvic muscles strengthen, improving sensation. The rest of the session will involve exercise and gentle massage techniques. Follow-up sessions are generally shorter (30-45 minutes) once the initial goals have been established. Generally, you can expect 1-6 sessions depending on your treatment goals.

Insurance may cover Pelvic Floor Therapy services. It is important for you to contact your insurance provider before your visit to ensure that pelvic physical therapy by a nurse practitioner is covered. If it is not, the visit fee will be collected at the time of service.
